Keyboard shortcuts
Ctrl / ⌘ + Enter Encode Ctrl / ⌘ + Shift + D Decode Ctrl / ⌘ + L Clear
Paste plain text to encode, or paste Base64 to decode. You can also open a file to encode it.
How it works
Paste text and choose Encode, or paste Base64 and choose Decode. Open a file to encode its original bytes. Enable URL-safe for the alternate alphabet, and switch output between Base64, UTF-8 text and hexadecimal bytes. Binary results can be downloaded as a file. Auto-detect suggests an action; you can always choose either button. Base64 is an encoding, not encryption.

Frequently asked questions
Does this support Unicode?
Yes. Text is encoded as UTF-8 before converting to Base64, so accents, emoji and other Unicode characters are preserved.
Is Base64 secure?
No. Base64 is reversible and does not protect secrets. Use encryption when confidentiality is needed.
