Local playback · No recordingListen and compare
ReadyStart with low system volume. Select speakers or headphones in your system audio settings.
Ready. Choose a channel or start the left → right → both sequence.
Playback details and limitations
The melody is generated locally and lasts about three seconds per step. You can also choose a one-second 440 Hz tone. No capture permission is requested. Mono settings can merge channels; playback completion does not prove that you heard the sound.
Test volume changes the generated signal, not system volume. Stop, a changed setting, hiding the tab or leaving the page cancels playback.
How to test your speakers
Choose your speakers or headphones in your system sound settings and start with low system volume. Choose Gentle melody or 440 Hz tone, then click Left speaker or Right speaker and listen for the corresponding side. Both channels plays through both outputs. Test sequence plays left, right and both with short gaps. Playback ends automatically; Stop ends it immediately.
Audio troubleshooting
If you hear nothing, check system volume, the selected audio output and whether your browser tab is muted. If both sides play during a single-channel test, check mono audio and accessibility settings. Bluetooth devices, virtual audio software or a single built-in speaker can change how channels are played.
Test your microphone →Left and right headphone test
Use stereo headphones to distinguish the left and right channels. Start with low system volume, then play each channel separately. The browser uses your current audio output; select the intended output in system settings. Mono audio or hardware can merge both channels.
Continue your task
Test your headset microphone — Check the input separately from headphone sound output.
Check your video-call camera — Preview your camera after checking the call audio.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use this as a headphone test?
Yes. Connect your headphones or earphones, select them as the system audio output and play the left and right tones.
Does this test hearing or speaker frequency response?
No. It plays short stereo tones for an audible output check. It does not measure hearing, frequency response, bass quality or calibrated loudness.
Does this need microphone permission?
No. This test generates its melody and tone locally and only uses audio output. It does not capture or record sound.
Can I choose an output device here?
This test uses the browser’s system default output. Select your speakers or headphones in your operating system or browser settings.
Does the test confirm my speakers work?
The page schedules audio playback; you confirm whether the expected sound is audible. It cannot automatically measure speaker output or diagnose hardware quality.
Why do both sides sound the same?
Your device may have a mono speaker or merge stereo channels. Check accessibility mono settings and test with stereo headphones if available.
Does the volume slider set my system volume?
No. It changes only the generated test tone. Your system and device volume controls still affect loudness.
