Image Resizer guide
How to Resize PNG, JPEG and WebP Images in Your Browser
Resize a local image by pixels or percentage, preserve its aspect ratio and download PNG, JPEG or WebP. Understand transparency, orientation and memory limits.
Open Image Resizer →Before you start
- Use a current browser with JavaScript enabled. Read the limits below before using private or large inputs.
Step-by-step instructions
- Select a still PNG, JPEG or WebP file.
- Choose Dimensions or Percentage. With aspect lock enabled, width determines the proportional height.
- Select PNG, JPEG or WebP output. Choose quality for JPEG/WebP and a background for JPEG.
- Click Resize and check the preview, pixel dimensions and output size.
- Download the result; Clear releases the loaded image. The original file stays unchanged.
Interpret results and limitations
Inputs are bounded to 10 MiB, 4,096 pixels per edge and 8 megapixels total, with header checks before decoding. Output obeys the same dimension and pixel limits. Animated PNG/WebP, GIF, SVG and HEIC are unsupported.
The decoder applies image orientation. PNG/WebP can preserve transparency; JPEG uses the selected opaque background. Browser canvas encoding removes metadata and can alter color profiles. Quality does not affect PNG, and animated-image preservation is not supported.
Example
Use this example to understand the expected behavior before working with your own input.
1200 × 800 at 50% → 600 × 400
Aspect-locked width 300 → height 200Troubleshooting
The image or requested size is rejected
Check format, dimensions and file size. Reduce the source outside this tool if it exceeds the limits; choose PNG if browser WebP/JPEG output encoding is unavailable.
The interface does not respond
Enable JavaScript, use a supported browser and check the input limits. Reloading clears temporary input and results.
Privacy and cleanup
Inputs and results stay in the current tab. Nothing is uploaded or stored in input history. Optional analytics receives fixed tool identifiers only; entered data, file names and generated values are excluded.
