Dead Pixel Test guide
How to Inspect a Display for Dead or Stuck Pixels
Inspect a monitor with solid-color patterns, navigate colors and exit safely. Distinguish manual observation from automatic detection or pixel repair.
Open Dead Pixel Test →Before you start
- Use a current browser with JavaScript enabled. Read the limits below before using private or large inputs.
Step-by-step instructions
- Clean the screen gently and use comfortable brightness in steady lighting.
- Click Start inspection to open the pattern view.
- Use Previous, Next or the arrow keys to move through six solid colors.
- Optionally choose Fullscreen; Exit fullscreen restores the pattern view.
- Click End inspection or press Escape to close. Inspect the screen yourself; no automatic verdict is generated.
Interpret results and limitations
A consistently dark point on bright patterns or a bright point on dark patterns can merit closer inspection. Dust, reflections and image scaling can resemble a defect; compare under consistent conditions.
This page does not detect, repair or count faulty pixels. Patterns change only on your action; there is no flashing cycle. Visible controls occupy part of the view, so inspect those areas in another window position if needed.
Example
Use this example to understand the expected behavior before working with your own input.
Patterns: white → black → red → green → blue → grayTroubleshooting
Fullscreen is unavailable or the view closes
Continue in the expanded view if fullscreen is blocked. Hiding or leaving the page closes inspection intentionally.
